In ADD Informatica we have been several days mulling what could be the first news to publish after Christmas. The fact is that Christmas hangover takes some time. Especially in our body, where the excesses makes us to say things such as “now exercise!”, “sweet is over completely” “from now on salad for dinner and maximum, a piece of cheese”. The problem is that in the end, we punish our body twice, first with “excess” and now with “defect”. It’s sad, isn’t?

Yes, until we saw a few days ago our colleague Silvana at lunchtime saying while she was eating a salad with fresh cheese “I’m looking forward to finish my lunch to eat a new dessert that I’ve discovered. It is super healthy, sweet and light”. Imagine all those who were with her, our face of surprise and disbelief. Immediately, we asked her: “tell it, but NOW!!!” And et voila! After her explanation and trying it, we thought it was worth to share it to enjoy it alone or in company or add it to the menu of your Care Homes (with small changes according to diets of residents).

NATURAL YOGHURT WITH HONEY AND WALNUTS:

For one single ration: skimmed natural yogurt without sugar or sweeteners (we recommend in packages of 500 grams or 1 kg in bulk).

Honey or natural unrefined cane sugar (for whom cannot taste it, we can use artificial sweetener and, for the more disciplined ones, without anything).

Shelled walnuts (the amount equivalent to 3 nuts in shell).

We’ll tell you the preparation as Silvana told us. She said that regardless even if the order of the factors, ingredients in this case, do not affect to the result, she has always done it in this way. She was serious about taking it in transparent glass – no opaque at all.

So, you put a small amount of nuts in small pieces in a bowl or a transparent glass. Then add the amount of nuts you add about 150 grs of specified yogurt. You put 2 spoonful of cane sugar or a drizzle of honey. Then you mix the yogurt with sugar or honey not using the spoon to not incorporate nuts yet. Once yogurt and honey are ready and mixed then you introduce the spoon and include the walnuts. Then you can imagine the next step: taste it.

Perhaps we had high expectations for a dessert, as Silvana admitted: “at the beginning it was not so extraordinary”. But once you know properties of ingredients and low calories comparing to other desserts, each time, tastes better. Especially now, after Christmas, where our body is grateful with any break of restrictions.

PROPERTIES OF NATURAL YOGHURT

Yogurt belongs to the group of probiotics. This food group contains colonies of live microorganisms that report a positive influence on the organism.

Their antimicrobial properties improve and restore the intestinal flora.

It helps to stimulate the immune system.

It helps to the prevention of anemia and malnutrition due to its high nutritional value.

Helps prevent osteoporosis: the consumption of yogurt provides 70% of the calcium necessary in any diet.

PROPERTIES OF HONEY

Natural honey is composed of minerals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, manganese, copper, phosphorus, zinc, selenium, vitamins A, C and B.

It has nutritional and healing properties that have been known since antiquity.

It is considered relaxing and tonic since makes easier the absorption of tryptophan, precursor of serotonin, inducing substance to sleep. For this reason, honey combats insomnia.

It is considered a cerebral tonic for its content in sodium, iron and phosphorus, essential for good maintenance of the nervous system.

Regular consumption of honey improves the assimilation of other foods for being very digestive. Its soothing and antiseptic properties make it an excellent help in the treatment of influenza, irritated throat, and muscle aches.

PROPERTIES OF NUTS

Contains a lot of very useful vitamins and minerals to keep us healthy and active. They also provide a significant amount of antioxidants, which benefits the cells.

Those who take them frequently, get proteins, vitamins of Group B, vitamin A, amino acids (such as lecithin) and Omega 3 fatty acids, which provide many benefits, since they help to reduce the bad cholesterol that we can have in our blood.
